Mosharafa gives examples of how the Arabs transferred the sciences and philosophies of the Greeks, and how the Europeans transferred science from the Arabs, which highlights the importance of scientific exchange between cultures.
علي مصطفى مشرفة هو عالم فيزياء مصري بارز، وُلِد في 11 يوليو 1898 في مدينة دمياط. يُعرف بلقب "أينشتاين العرب" بسبب إنجازاته في الفيزياء النووية. حصل على لقب أستاذ من جامعة القاهرة وهو دون الثلاثين، وانتُخب في عام 1936 عميدًا لكلية العلوم، ليصبح أول عميد مصري لها. تلقى تعليمه الأول في مدينة دمياط ثم انتقل إلى القاهرة، حيث تخرج من المدرسة السعيدية عام 1914 بمعدل عالٍ. حصل على بعثة علمية إلى بريطانيا، حيث تخرج من جامعة نوتنجهام في عام 1917 وحصل على الدكتوراه في فلسفة العلوم من الكلية الملكية عام 1923، ثم دكتوراه العلوم من جامعة لندن عام 1924. ساهم مشرفة بشكل كبير في الحياة العلمية بمصر، وله العديد من المؤلفات الهامة في الفيزياء والرياضيات، منها "الميكانيكا العلمية والنظرية" و"الهندسة الوصفية". توفي في 15 يناير 1950 إثر أزمة قلبية، وهناك شائعات حول احتمال تعرضه للتسمم، مع تلميحات بأن جهات معينة قد تكون وراء وفاته، مثل جهاز الموساد الإسرائيلي. ترك إرثًا علميًا كبيرًا وأثرًا عميقًا في الأجيال اللاحقة من العلماء.
