Beschreibungen

Sunset is a labor of love by an old married couple who wanted to share with friends the love, thoughts, aspirations, hopes, disappointments, and fears of a lifetime together. It is a book of accessible poetry in meter and rhyme with matching artwork. It is a book reflecting the faith, hopes, and fears of the modern human condition.
David M. Goldberg and Gail Pinchot-Goldberg have been married for fifty-five years. David has been writing poetry for the last twenty years and has published several poems in both online and print magazines and newspapers. Gail has been a professional artist her entire life, after graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago.

“In
Sunset, David Goldberg presents a heady array of delectable offerings, each one rich in meaning and beautiful in form. Like sunlight pouring in through an open window, the poems and paintings probe, accentuate, and gently depict the multifaceted life of a Jew in contemporary America. Drawing on his own experiences and a lifetime of Jewish learning, he artfully expresses yearning, growth, old age, mystery, and satisfaction. Accompanied by the uplifting paintings of Gail Goldberg, every one of David Goldberg’s poems is a treat. A delight to read and a pleasure to savor again and again.”

“David Goldberg’s
Sunset, a rich collection of deeply personal, beautifully crafted poems, offers readers a profoundly considered and variegated array of observations, reactions, and considerations of the author’s life and experiences. Goldberg’s admirably forthright exposure of his own humanity challenges readers to contemplate their own. Gail Pinchot Goldberg’s striking paintings supply graphic supplements or counterpoints to individual poems, completing the work’s captivating polychromy. Highly recommended.”
“The second line ‘singing my life with his words’ from the song ‘Killing Me Softly with His Song,’ can easily refer to the effect David Goldberg’s poems have on me or anyone sensitive to life’s twists and turns while loving, parenting, and aging. The humble voice in
Sunset will expose your own heart. Worth reading as your memories are churned by each line.”
