Introduction

Naoum Shebib is a talented Egyptian architect and structural engineer (fig.1). He is considered as the “Father of Skyscraper” as well as modern architecture in Egypt. Throughout his career, Shebib was very keen to adapt innovative designs as well as invent new structural elements appropriate to the local construction materials and techniques. Shebib was born on 28th November in 1915 in Cairo, Egypt. He studied architecture in Cairo University and graduated with honors in 1937. Shebib also had completed a Masters of Engineering and Soil Mechanics in 1954 as well as a Masters of Structural Engineering in 1956; both from Cairo University as well. In 1941, Shebib established his architectural and structural engineering firm, where he was responsible of many important projects in Cairo.
