For more than a hundred years, Russia has been a giant blank spot in the history of dinosaurs. A lot of things prevented the search and study of the remains of Russian dinosaurs: the lack of specialists, the geological history of the region, the remoteness of promising locations. Findings of dinosaurs were limited to a few bones, and only in the last twenty or thirty years the situation has changed dramatically and dramatically. Five large and globally important sites were found. Some discoveries have become a scientific sensation: in Russia, the remains of the most ancient feathered dinosaur, the richest and most diverse fauna of mammaliaforms of the mid-Jurassic period, were found, and a huge region was discovered where evolution practically stopped during the time of dinosaurs.
