<div>This book gathers a selection of peer-reviewed papers presented at the first Big Data Analytics for Cyber-Physical System&nbsp; in Smart City (BDCPS 2019) conference, held in Shengyang, China, on 28–29 December 2019.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>The contributions, prepared by an international team of scientists and engineers, cover the latest advances made in the field of machine learning, and big data analytics methods and approaches for the data-driven co-design of communication, computing, and control for smart cities. Given its scope, it offers a valuable resource for all researchers and professionals interested in big data, smart cities, and cyber-physical systems.</div>
<p><b>Mohammed Atiquzzaman</b> obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from the University of Manchester (UK). He currently holds the Edith Kinney Gaylord Presidential Professorship in the School of Computer Science at the University of Oklahoma and is a senior member of IEEE.&nbsp;</p><p>He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Networks and Computer Applications, founding Editor-in-Chief of Vehicular Communications, and former Co-Editor-in-Chief of Computer Communication and has served/serving on the editorial boards of IEEE Communications Magazine, International Journal on Wireless and Optical Communications, Real-Time Imaging Journal, Journal of Communication Systems, Communication Networks and Distributed Systems, and Journal of Sensor Networks. He also guest edited 12 special issues in various journals. He has served as symposium co-chairs for IEEE Globecom (2006, 2007, 2012, 2014, 2016) and IEEE ICC (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016) conferences, and co-chair of IEEE High-Performance Switching and Routing Symposium (2011 and 2003). He also co-chaired NSysS (2016), DependSys (2015), ChinaComm (2008), and the SPIE Quality of Service over Next Generation Data Networks conferences (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005). He was the panels’ co-chair of INFOCOM’05, and is/has been in the program committee of numerous conferences such as INFOCOM, ICCCN, and Local Computer Networks. He serves on the review panels of funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation, National Research Council (Canada), and Australian Research Council (Australia). In recognition of his contribution to NASA research, he received the NASA Group Achievement Award for "outstanding work to further NASA Glenn Research Center's effort in the area of Advanced Communications/Air Traffic Management's Fiber Optic Signal Distribution for Aeronautical Communications" project. He received the IEEE Satellite Communications Technical Contribution Award due to his contributions toresearch in space communications and the IEEE Distinguished Technical Achievement Award for his work in communications switching and routing. Dr. Atiquzzaman received IEEE Communication Society's Fred W. Ellersick Prize. He has been invited to deliver keynote talks in over 20 international conferences around the globe, including USA, Brazil, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Australia, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Korea. He is the co-author of the book “Performance of TCP/IP over ATM networks,” co-edited 8 books, co-authored 5 book chapters, written 25 journal editorials, and has over 300 refereed technical publications, most of which can be accessed at www.cs.ou.edu/~atiq. His research interests are in satellite communications, wireless and mobile networks, vehicular networks, ad hoc networks, quality of service, and optical communications. His research has been funded by National Science Foundation (NSF), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), U.S. Air Force, Cisco, Honeywell,Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and Oklahoma Highway Safety Office through grants totaling over $10M.&nbsp;</p><p><b>Neil Y. Yen </b>received Ph.D. degrees at the Department of Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences, Waseda University, Japan, and the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, Tamkang University, Taiwan, in year of 2012, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Aizu, Japan. His current interests include human-centric computing (i.e., user modeling and understanding, social web, collaborative economy), big data (i.e., data/web mining, deep learning, statistical analysis), and anticipatory computing (i.e., prediction, recommendation, and well-being services). He is the Founder of FC conferences and the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Social and Humanistic Computing and Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences.&nbsp;</p><p><b>Zheng Xu</b> was born inShanghai, China. He received Diploma and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Computing Engineering and Science, Shanghai University, Shanghai, in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor in Shanghai University, China. His current research interests include data mining, big data, and social network. He has authored or co-authored more than 70 publications including IEEE Trans. on Automation Science and Engineering, IEEE Trans. on Cloud Computing, IEEE Trans. on Emerging Topics in Computing, IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics-Part C, etc. He is the Associate Editor of IEEE Access, Springer ECR Journal, AutoSoft Journal. He is also the Founder of ATCI conferences.&nbsp;</p>
